Porsche 944 triggerwheel kit 36-1 = 36-2 crank trigger

€303,21

Easiest Crank Sensor for 944

The best way to mount a crank position sensor.

The new aluminum pulley sets the timing at exactly 90°.

When boosting a 944 Turbo, for example, it is wise to use a new programmable ECU, such as Megasquirt, VEMS, KMS, MSD, MaxxECU, or one of many others.

The main signal for these programmable ECUs is the BDP (or VR) sensor (crankshaft position sensor).

Because the Porsche 944 is originally equipped with a dual BDP (VR) sensor, this is a tricky setup for many systems to get working. Often a so-called Audi trigger method is used with the camshaft sensor as input. However, this does have drawbacks.

Much simpler is this kit. With this ready-to-use kit you can quickly and precisely mount the sensor on your engine block.

Features:

  • Cheapest and best solution on the market
  • High quality parts
  • Assembly within 2 hours
  • Aluminum pulley with trigger at exactly 90°
  • Very solid and secure mounting of the sensor
  • Trigger wheel is completely behind the distribution cover and thus protected from dirt
  • Suitable for cars with and without air conditioning
  • Suitable for the 924S, 944, 944T
  • Each bracket is manually checked for correct position

Mounting

  1. Set crankshaft to BDP, TDC. Check for camshaft wheel and flywheel mark (underside)
  2. Loosen crankshaft bolt, use crankshaft blocking tool which is placed in place of starter motor.
  3. Remove the alternator pulley by loosening the 4 bolts. Leave the balancer shaft wheel in place.
Weld the triggerwheel in the correct position yourself or replace it with the new aluminum pulley.
  4. Mount the pulley and position the missing tooth at about 90 degrees after the sensor.
  5. Mount the sensor bracket on the crankcase
  6. You may need to adjust the timing cover (on later models) by cutting off the empty piece of plastic, see photo
  7. From the front timing cover, after marking, 1 cm of plastic can be removed as a hole for the sensor.
  8. Adjust the sensor to 0.8mm to triggerwheel with the plug facing up and secure with the bolts.
  9. Reinstall everything

Self welding triggerwheel

To mount this, it must be secured with 4 small welds, on the back of the existing alternator pulley.

It fitted well and work good.

The condition of the belt wheel was not very nice had to refresh it a bit.

We have designed a new belt wheel in alumunium with bolted triggerwheel to solve that problem. Original belt wheels are always very rusty.

Very well made. Easy to install.

Took very little time to install. Not hard and seems to be very well made.
