Made of 16MnCr5, ground and hardened
We manufactured 3 models:
Original diameter / length = 24 x 66.85 146 g
Slim pin diameter / length = 24 x 66.85 120 g
Slim pin diameter / length = 24 x 64.85 117 g
The Slim pin combined with our H-Beam connecting rod provides a total weight saving of 944 grams (for the 944).
No modifications are required for use in the 944; the H-beam can replace the original connecting rod directly.
For use in 928 engines, the H-beam connecting rod with Slim pin can also be used and provides a weight saving of 1888 grams. However, the 928 crankshaft must then be rebalanced using so-called bob weights.
When using new Wossner pistons, you do not need this pin. We have now discovered that they have made exactly the same dimensions and design, resulting in the same weight of 120 grams.
