Porsche 924S 944 968 H-beam connecting rods (set of 4)

€680,00

Porsche 924S 944 968 H-beam connecting rod set of 4

This set consists of four lightweight H-beam connecting rods for Porsche 924S, 944, and 968 engines. The connecting rods have a center-to-center length of 150 mm and are supplied with ARP connecting rod bolts.

The H-beam connecting rods are suitable for a professional engine rebuild and for building a stronger performance engine. Each set is weight-selected and balanced with a maximum difference of 0.2 grams between rods.

The connecting rods can be combined with our separately available slim-fit wrist pins measuring 24 x 66.85 mm. The wrist pins are not included with this connecting rod set.

Combined with the slim-fit wrist pins, the reciprocating mass is significantly reduced. The original connecting rod with wrist pin weighs approximately 989 grams per cylinder. The new H-beam connecting rod with slim-fit wrist pin weighs approximately 753 grams.

This results in a weight saving of approximately 236 grams per cylinder and, coincidentally, exactly 944 grams per four-cylinder engine.

Suitable for

  • Porsche 924S: all 2.5 engines

  • Porsche 944: all 2.5 and 2.7 engines

  • Porsche 944 S: 2.5 16V

  • Porsche 944 S2: 3.0 16V

  • Porsche 944 Turbo: all 2.5 Turbo engines

  • Porsche 968: 3.0, model years 1992-1995

  • Set size: four connecting rods

One set of four connecting rods is required for a Porsche 924S, 944, or 968.

Replaces part number

Depending on the Porsche model and engine type, these H-beam connecting rods can be used as a replacement for or alternative to:

  • OEM number: 94410300802

  • Alternative spelling: 944 103 008 02

  • Reference number: 94410300101

  • Alternative spelling: 944 103 001 01

  • Reference number: 94410300800

  • Alternative spelling: 944 103 008 00

  • Reference number: 94410300804

  • Alternative spelling: 944 103 008 04

Important fitment information

The connecting rods have a center-to-center length of 150 mm and a wrist-pin bushing for a wrist pin with a diameter of 24 mm.

The matching slim-fit wrist pins have a size of 24 x 66,85 mmThese wrist pins are available separately and are not included with this connecting rod set.

The connecting rods must be installed as a complete, weight-matched set. Do not combine one new H-beam connecting rod with used original connecting rods without precise checking.

Benefits of this product

  • Complete set of four H-beam connecting rods.

  • Suitable for Porsche 924S, 944, and 968.

  • Includes ARP connecting rod bolts.

  • Center-to-center length of 150 mm.

  • Suitable for piston pins with a diameter of 24 mm.

  • Balanced with a maximum mutual weight difference of 0.2 grams.

  • Made from 40CrNiMoA

  • Steel.

  • Shot-peened for improved resistance to fluctuating loads.

  • Hardness of HRC 33–38.

  • New piston pin bushing instead of a worn original bushing.

  • Lighter construction than the original connecting rods.

  • Suitable for engine rebuilding and performance engine building.

  • Up to 944 grams of weight savings per four-cylinder engine in combination with the slim-fit piston pins.

  • Prevents the need to straighten and rebush damaged original connecting rods.

  • New slim-fit piston pins are available separately.

During our own dyno test, the engine responded more quickly to the throttle and approximately 20 Nm of additional torque was measured. The dips in the torque curve around 3,000 and 4,000 rpm also disappeared in this test engine.

The measured result may vary from engine to engine and depends on the engine condition and the other components installed.

When should the connecting rods be replaced?

Replacement is advisable when:

  • The engine is being fully rebuilt; this is your chance!

  • An original connecting rod is bent or twisted.

  • The piston pin bushing is worn.

  • There is play between the piston pin and connecting rod.

  • A connecting rod has been damaged by a defective connecting rod bearing.

  • The engine is being built for higher loads.

  • The original piston pins are worn or damaged.

A bent connecting rod or worn piston pin bushing is not always visible to the naked eye. Therefore, have the original connecting rods professionally measured during an engine rebuild.

Installation information

The connecting rods connect the pistons to the crankshaft. The engine must be largely or completely disassembled before installation.

Check during installation:

  • The diameter and roundness of the crankpins.

  • Check or replace the connecting rod bearings.

  • The fit of the piston pins.

  • The direction in which the pistons are installed.

  • The weight of each complete piston, piston pin, and connecting rod assembly.

  • The size and roundness of the big-end bearing

  • Tightening torque: 75 Nm

When fitting to a Porsche 928, the crankshaft must be rebalanced based on the actual weights of the new components.
