Description:
This new adjustable camshaft sprocket allows the timing of the camshaft to be adjusted. By adjusting this timing, the torque band changes position so that maximum torque is reached earlier or later.
In many of today's engines, the cylinder head has been overhauled and flattened, sometimes several times. This causes the cylinder head to lie a little lower, which delays the timing. This gear can be used to correct the timing. Also, the current gears are not all produced exactly the same, there are slight differences in the position of the key.
When using a special camshaft or other engine modifications, this adjustable camshaft gear is a must.
Through this adjustment, the speed of maximum torque can be moved which affects driving characteristics.
For racing use, the torque can be moved to a higher rpm for higher final power, (to the 5 degrees)
For street use, lower rpm can be selected for higher torque in the 2000 to 3500 rpm operating range (to the 4 degree).
For tuning you do not need to go to a roller bench, you can safely tune it yourself and experience the difference.
The camshaft gear is designed by us for all 8 valve 2.5 liter engines of the 924S and 944 8V (Turbo) Porsche engines.
Adjustability
It is possible to adjust the sprocket while it is mounted on the camshaft, The sprocket designed so that there is no need to make any adjustments to, for example, the distribution cover.
The gear is adjustable over a total range of -4° to +5° camshaft This is the maximum twist you need. There is no point in turning the sprocket more/less, as you will never reach your maximum torque. With this, it is not possible to turn the gear so far that the valves can touch the piston, which could cause engine damage.
To make adjusting easy, there are degree marks on the sprocket so you can see which rotation you have set.
Material
By using the original sprocket we can offer a cheaper alternative compared to other suppliers. This actually only has advantages, because the properties of the teeth do not differ from original and the required quality is maintained.
The core of the sprocket is made of high quality steel which is stronger than the steel originally used for the sprocket. The weak point of the original sprocket was always the key which could tear out under poor assembly or high load.
The sprocket is fastened with four high-quality 10.9 M8 bolts, providing excellent clamping of the two parts.
