944 Performance results

We started with a used engine (190.000 km). We took the engine out and did a fast rebuild with new bearings and seals.
Piston and cilinders untouched, new H-Beams + Slim piston pins mounted.
Cilinder head was overhauled.

Working this way,  the results will be similar to what you can expect, as your engine is probably also old and has done about 200,000 km.
The car's license plate is 45-GR-SL.

Cam adjustment and maximum performance with:

MAF + Remap + Camshaft wheel

To get the optimal setting for the camshaft. We did all runs after with the same setting of +2 degrees.

Maximum output for this complete setup 227Nm (+4°) and 166 Hp (+2°)
So +2° gives highest power, and +4° gives highest Torque.

And an improvement of 5 -10 Nm on the torque curve compared to standard (cam at zero)

Standard versus MAF+Remap+2 degrees

We then reinstalled the original chip, the original injectors and the original LMM, see STD (standard)
STD = standard injectors + ecu standard chip + old LMM. This is the result of an old engine but with H-Beams of course and camwheel at +2°. Result 148Hp and 210Nm

So the increase of the MAF + REMAP is (166-148) = 18 Hp and (225-210) = 25 Nm

MAF versus MAF + Remap

Another interesting test was to compare STD engine with the MAF + camwheel +2° to the MAF+Remap. So you can see the result of the remap alone.

Interesting to see is the Lambda value, showing very lean combustion at 2100 rpm and around. So when running at full load the original ECU cannot adjust enough for the increased amount of air entering the engine. With our Remap we adjusted that on the chip so the gain in torque is enormous, up to 30Nm at 2500 rpm.

Hungry for more?

Well yes we are, next will be an overhauled engine, new pistons and cilinders and see what power it will make. Would be so much fun to chase a 944 turbo!
