Porsche 924S and 944 MAF kit for more power and better throttle response
Replace the original mechanical MAF of your Porsche 924S or Porsche 944 with a modern electronic MAF. This MAF kit reduces resistance in the air intake and responds faster to changes in the drawn air.
The original MAF measures air with a mechanical flap. This flap restricts the air intake. Additionally, the internal measuring track, flap, and spring may be worn after decades. This can cause power loss, poor throttle response, and irregular engine running.
The modern hot-film MAF has no mechanical flap in the airflow. This allows the engine to draw air more easily. This results in a more direct throttle response, smoother power delivery, and more torque, especially at lower RPMs.
The MAF kit works Plug & Play with the original Porsche ECU/DME. The kit can be installed independently but is also fully compatible with our Remap chip tune. In combination with the Remap and modern injectors, the engine can optimally utilize the improved airflow for extra power and torque.

Special air tube for the Porsche 944S
The Porsche 944S has a different position and connection of the air intake. A standard MAF kit therefore does not fit correctly on the original air intake system.
We supply the Porsche 944S MAF kit with a specially designed air tube by us. This air tube is necessary for a correct connection and fit.
We are the only webshop that supplies this MAF kit for the Porsche 944S complete with this specially designed air tube. Without this air tube, problems arise with the position, connection, and installation of the MAF.
The Porsche 944S2 uses the same Bosch reference but does not require the same fitment solution as the Porsche 944S. Always select the correct model when ordering.
More power with a modern MAF
The original mass air flow meter contains a mechanical valve that must be pushed open by the incoming air. This valve restricts airflow and responds more slowly than a modern electronic MAF.
The new MAF has a fully open measuring channel, allowing the engine to draw in air more easily. The ECU also receives faster and more accurate information about the amount of air drawn in.
This can result in:
-
More torque at low and mid-range RPMs
-
Stronger acceleration
-
A more direct throttle response
-
More even power delivery
-
Less hesitation when accelerating quickly
-
Smoother engine operation
-
A better foundation for further engine tuning
The exact power gain depends on the Porsche model, engine condition, and further configuration.
Compatible with our Remap chip tune
The MAF kit works independently with the original Porsche ECU/DME. No other chip or ECU programming is needed for MAF installation alone.
For greater power gains, the MAF can be combined with our Remap chip tune and modern injectors. The Remap optimizes fuel injection and ignition for the use of RON 98, among other things.
The combination of MAF, Remap, and modern injectors allows the engine to better utilize the improved air supply.
The main advantages of this combination are:
-
More power than with the MAF alone
-
More torque, especially below about 3,500 rpm
-
Faster throttle response
-
Stronger acceleration
-
Smoother power delivery
-
Modern injectors with a better spray pattern
-
Tuning optimized for RON 98
The MAF can first be installed separately. The Remap and injectors can also be added later.
-
Less restriction in the air intake
-
No mechanical measuring valve or spring
-

When should you replace the original MAF?
A worn or poorly functioning MAF can cause various complaints:
-
The engine responds slowly to the accelerator pedal.
-
The car hesitates during acceleration.
-
The engine delivers less power than expected.
-
There are dips in power buildup.
-
The engine runs rough at low RPM.
-
Idle speed is not stable.
-
The engine does not respond the same every time.
-
The CO value is difficult to adjust correctly.
-
Fuel consumption is higher than expected.
-
The mechanical flap moves heavily or irregularly.
-
The internal potentiometer track is worn.
The MAF kit can also be installed as an upgrade when the original MAF is still working. The more modern measurement and freer airflow improve response and provide a good basis for further tuning.
Installation information
The MAF replaces the original air mass meter at the air filter housing.
Installation is Plug & Play and fully reversible:
-
Open the air filter housing.
-
Remove the original air mass meter.
-
Check the Bosch number on the removed part.
-
Install the correct MAF version.
-
Connect the plug and supplied connectors according to the installation instructions.
-
Check all hoses and connections for vacuum leaks.
-
Start the engine and check the engine running.
-
Check the CO value with an exhaust gas tester.
For the Porsche 944S, the specially designed air tube must also be installed. This tube ensures the correct position and connection of the MAF.
The MAF is pre-set. We recommend checking the CO value after installation. If necessary, correction can be made using the integrated adjustment screw.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this MAF kit fit all Porsche 924S and 944 models?
There are specific versions for the Porsche 924S, 944, 944S, 944S2, and 944 Turbo from 1982-1991. Always select the correct variant based on model, year, and Bosch number.
Which MAF kit do I need?
Check the Bosch number on the original mass air flow sensor. Compare this number with the information in the product variants.
Does this MAF kit provide more power?
The MAF removes the restrictive mechanical flap from the airflow. This allows the engine to draw in air more easily and respond faster. This can result in more torque, a more direct throttle response, and stronger power delivery.
How do I achieve the greatest power gain?
The greatest power gain is achieved by combining the MAF with our Remap chip tune and modern injectors. The Remap optimizes ignition and fuel injection for RON 98.
Can I install just the MAF first?
Yes. The MAF works independently with the original ECU. The Remap chip tune and modern injectors can be added later.
Does the MAF work with the original Porsche ECU?
Yes. The MAF is developed for use with the original Porsche ECU/DME. When installing only the MAF, the ECU does not need to be programmed.
Does the same kit fit both automatic and manual Porsche models?
Yes. Automatic and manual versions use the same model-specific MAF kit.
Why does the Porsche 944S need a special air tube?
The position and connection of the air intake differ on the Porsche 944S. Without a modified air tube, the MAF will not fit correctly. Therefore, our 944S kit is supplied with a specially designed air tube.
Is the special air tube for the Porsche 944S included?
Yes. Our Porsche 944S version comes with the specially designed air tube included.
Should the CO value be checked after installation?
The MAF is pre-set. However, we recommend checking the CO value after installation with an exhaust gas tester and correcting it if necessary.
Can I revert back to the original LMM later?
Yes. The installation is fully reversible. Please keep the original LMM and mounting parts for this purpose.
