Made of 16MnCr5, ground and hardened
We manufactured 3 models:
Original diameter / length = 24 x 66.85 146 g
Slim pin diameter / length = 24 x 66.85 120 g
Slim pin diameter / length = 24 x 64.85 117 g
Making the wrist pin lighter gives the engine greater torque. For 4 pieces, the weight reduction is 116 grams. We developed these for use with our H-beams, bringing the total weight advantage to exactly 944 grams.
When should you use this wrist pin?
When rebuilding an engine and reusing the pistons. Due to the precise fit, the old pins may be worn.
New matching wrist pins are supplied with new pistons; check them for size and weight. Naturally, you can use our wrist pin if it is lighter than the supplied wrist pin.
When using new Wossner pistons, you do not need this pin. We have verified that they have exactly the same dimensions and design, resulting in the same weight: 120 grams.
Which wrist pin should I choose?
We have measured the lengths of many engines. This is therefore an informational list.
Application in the 4-cylinder engines, 924S, 944, 944S, 944S2, 968
No modifications are required to use the lighter wrist pin in the 944. It is even smarter to use our H-beam connecting rods as well.
The Slim pin combined with our H-beam connecting rod provides a total weight saving of 944 grams (for the 944).
Application in the 8-cylinder engines, 928, 928S, S2, S4, GT, GTS
The H-beam connecting rod with Slim pin can also be used in 928 engines, providing a weight saving of 1888 grams. However, the 928 crankshaft must then be rebalanced using so-called bobweights.
