Targa roof problem solved
If your targa roof no longer opens or closes properly, this part may be broken.
On the first type 944 and also the 924, the arms of the roof are operated by push cables. In the gearbox, 3 cables come together and turn on a gear.
Due to age, the cover cracks and the cables no longer sit properly on the sprocket. This gives a creaking or clanking sound.
Remove the ceiling plate, the arms, the central gearbox, everything has to come off.
It is quite a bit of work, lying on your back in the trunk for an hour or 2 is the easiest way.
Make sure you know how to adjust the zero position.
