Porsche 928 automatic gear lever repair kit
Almost every 928 with automatic transmission suffers from this, check for yourself. The gear lever develops cracks at the base and starts to feel loose. Slide off the rubber from the base and inspect the gear lever.
The base of the gear lever can even come loose where it is mounted. We have encountered this problem on a 1995 928 GTS.
There are three ways to solve this problem:
1. Try to repair it with glue, which lasts two days.
2. Buy a new gear lever for €400 (!)
3. Buy this repair kit.
We have developed a mounting block that fits perfectly around the bottom and serves as extra reinforcement for the gear lever. By clamping it with the included extended bolts, less force is applied to the plastic, preventing it from breaking so quickly.
Advice:
We recommend installing this block preventively before it’s really too late. It is also optionally possible to order a strong plastic epoxy if you only just found out this product exists and your gear lever is almost completely broken. This can be used to glue the block for extra strength. This is not necessary if no cracks have appeared yet.
