Radiator for the Porsche 928 from 1978 through 1986. This radiator has an aluminum core with plastic side tanks and is closely similar in construction to the original Porsche 928 radiator.

The radiator is suitable for the Porsche 928, 928 S, 928 S2 and 928 S3. The 5.0 32V versions from 1985 and 1986 are also covered by this application.

The radiator has an integrated engine oil cooler and an integrated automatic transmission cooler. It can therefore be used with both automatic and manual transmission versions. Not using these connections will not cause leaks. They can simply be left unused.

This radiator is intended as a direct replacement for the original radiator of the Porsche 928 from 1978 through 1986.

The radiator features two integrated oil coolers:

  • Engine oil cooler

  • Automatic transmission oil cooler

This means the same radiator can be used for both automatic and manual Porsche 928 versions.

The original fan tunnel and plastic air guides fit this radiator without modifications.

All connections and fittings visible in the product photos are supplied with the radiator. The existing hoses and hose clamps must be transferred or replaced if necessary.

When should you replace this part?

An old Porsche 928 radiator may start leaking or become less effective at cooling due to age.

Possible symptoms include:

  • Coolant leakage at the radiator

  • Regularly falling coolant level

  • Coolant under the front of the car

  • Coolant smell after driving (sweet smell)

  • Leakage at the connection between the core and the plastic side tanks

  • Damaged or heavily contaminated cooling fins

  • Rising engine temperature

  • Insufficient cooling in hot weather or during slow driving

High engine temperature is not always caused by the radiator. Also check the thermostat, water pump, cooling fans, radiator hoses and the rest of the cooling system.

Installation information

The radiator is mounted at the front of the Porsche 928. The cooling system must be completely drained before replacement.

Hoses and hose clamps are transferred from the existing installation. Carefully inspect these components during installation.

  • Upper and lower radiator hoses

  • Other coolant hoses

  • Hose clamps

  • Mounting rubbers

  • Engine oil cooler connections

  • Automatic transmission oil cooler connections, if applicable

  • Cooling fans and electrical connections

Replace dried-out, cracked or deformed hoses and damaged seals.

After installation, fill the cooling system with the prescribed coolant and bleed the system according to the correct workshop procedure.

After installation, carefully check the coolant, engine oil and, if applicable, transmission oil connections for leaks.
